Prime Minister Singh and French President Sarkozy whose country holds the chairmanship of the European Union, led their delegations at the 9th India-EU Summit held in the French city of Marseilles on Sept. 29. The summit reaffirmed the strategic partnership between India and the EU based on “shared values of democracy and human rights, fundamental freedom (including religious), pluralism, rule of law and multilateralism”.
